ZenithSolar, developer and producer of a modular and highly efficient combined heat and power (CHP) solar systems, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the People’s Republic of China’s Energy Bureau of Gansu Provincial Development and Reforms Commission for developing CHP solar stations in the Gansu province. The signing of the MOU took place in the provincial capital Lanzhou during a ceremony.
As per the agreement, Zenith Solar would supply the technology for installing two 10 MW cogeneration plants utilizing Zenith Solar’s Z20 CHP system. Gansu Province, which is located 1200 kms from Beijing has a 30 million population and lies at the edge of the Gobi Desert, and hence is extremely suitable for solar energy operations in China.
Two facilities, which are to be located in Jinchang and Jiayuguan cities have been planned and installation would begin by this year. One installation would provide heat and electricity to a large neighborhood, while the other would supply electricity to an industrial plant. The Energy Bureau of Gansu would also recommend ZenithSolar’s CHP system for other sites in the province, after the two pilot programs have been successfully completed.
An announcement has been made by the Energy Bureau, that in conjunction with the introduction of CHP Technology , they would establish a scientific research center, which would give training to individuals, enterprises and government institutions to develop new solar energy technology.
ZenithSolar’s CEO, Roy Segev, stated that the company felt that it was privileged to initiate the Gansu Renewable Energy project and contribute to the Renewable Energy targets set by the Chinese Government. The Chairman of Gansu Foreign Affairs Office, Wang Yongqian stated they were happy to team up with ZenithSolar to develop the first ever solar project with advanced CHP technology in China.
