Cupertino Electric Installs Solar Systems in Petaluma School District

The Energy Alternatives Division of Cupertino Electric, a San Jose, California-headquartered company, declared that it has completed the installation of a 1 MW solar PV system at two school campuses of Petaluma Joint High School District.

The two solar systems offering a combined generation of 1 MW power are installed over the parking lot canopies at Petaluma High School and Casa Grande High School.

Cupertino Electric commenced the solar system installations in the fall of 2010 and erected a 385 kW system at Petaluma High School and a 675 kW solar PV system at the parking lot canopy of Casa Grande High School. TerraVerde Renewable Partners (TVRP), a local energy company that develops renewable energy projects, has supervised the financing and installation contracts. TerraVerde will also provide funding to the school district to train the teachers in integrating the solar concepts in the subject curricula of the school district.

According to Steve Bolman, Petaluma City School’s Deputy Superintendent of Business Services, the two solar installations completed by Cupertino Electric will allow the school district to reduce its energy expenditure and to increase its spending towards the student’s welfare.
