ArcelorMittal Construcción España, a division of ArcelorMittal, and Group OPDE, a solar photovoltaic multinational from Spain, have entered into a business accord to develop a market for photovoltaic rooftop installations over car parks and industrial buildings.
Installing of solar panels over canopies and rooftops while offering an architectural solution also allows such buildings to become self-reliant for energy and contribute to fight climatic change. Currently, such type of installations is growing into a profitable business segment.
The signed business accord will enable ArcelorMittal Construcción España to have a choice of three dissimilar solutions to perform solar photovoltaic installations over canopies, industrial buildings and fixed type structures. PROINSO, a division of the Grupo OPDE will offer the services of its 1,272 qualified solar installers placed in 48 countries to complete the solutions in the solar PV sector.
As per the first solution for the turnkey type of solar projects, which have sprung up consequent to a commercial deal by ArcelorMittal Construcción España, the steel company will choose OPDE as its primary choice to complete the project. Likewise, the steel company will enable OPDE to rent the rooftops of its clients with industrial buildings to develop and construct solar PV projects and will provide finance for such developments. The third option will allow ArcelorMittal Construcción España to develop non-turnkey type of products by collaborating with the qualified installers of PROINSO.
