Vestas Opens New Wind Turbine Component Test Centre in Chennai

Vestas, a leading wind power company, announces the opening of a new wind turbine component test centre in Chennai, India.

The state-of-the-art centre at Vestas Technology R&D is an additional facility for global testing of Vestas’ wind turbine components. It is intended to improve the reliability as well as the performance of its components. The centre employs over 300 specialists for R&D activities and will recruit more employees for the test centre. Vestas would utilize the abundant engineering talent available in Chennai for creation of more 'green jobs'. The wind turbine major also plans to add an additional 35,000 square feet to its Chennai office.

Vestas Wind Technology India, a subsidiary of Vestas Wind Systems, Denmark, has manufacturing facilities in Puducherry and Chennai. It has installed wind turbines in a number of states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
