OPEL Solar to Provide Solar Trackers to Aquarion Water Company

OPEL Solar International, a developer and provider of high concentration photovoltaic solar panels (HCPV) and roof-top as well as ground-based solar photovoltaic tracker systems, declared that it has contracted a definitive agreement to erect a tracker-based solar installation at the D.W. Loiselle Water Treatment Plant located in Trap Falls Reservoir in Shelton, Connecticut and owned by Aquarion Water Company.

OPEL Solar will install its TF-800 single axis tracker models as well as SF-45 dual axis tracker models at the location of the water treatment plant. The installed solar trackers will follow the movement of the sun all through the day and allow the installed solar panels to draw maximum sun energy to generate more power. The panels installed over solar trackers generate at least 22% more power than the fixed type of solar installations. The solar installation will generate around 43 MWh of clean energy every year and will offset the energy requirement of the water treatment plant owned by Aquarion Water Company.

OPEL Solar will build and manage the functions of the solar power plant in order to demonstrate the advantages of utilizing solar trackers in places having the climate of New England.
