Solar Nation has declared that it has erected and commissioned a 91.9 kW solar facility over the Rosauers Supermarket, located in Hood River, Oregon.
Rosauers Supermarkets has opted for solar facility as part of their efforts to adopt environment friendly practices. The company’s eco- friendly efforts include the installation of energy conserving refrigeration and lighting, usage of recyclable bags and purchase of materials from the local market.
Solar Nation has designed and erected the 15,000 square feet solar facility comprising 638 Uni-Solar PV-144 panels, which occupies around 60% of the supermarket’s roof. The solar panels are linked to a Solectria inverter to store the generated solar power. Both the inverters and the solar panels were produced in the United States.
This solar facility is one among the first solar installations in the Oregon State to get finished under the state’s Feed-in-tariff pilot project. The pilot project will undergo distribution by the local utility companies under the support of the state Public Utilities Commission. The Feed-in-tariff pilot project is formulated to offer adequate returns on investments made on solar power systems. The power generated from the facility is sufficient to supply electricity to eight average homes. During the estimated 25 year life span of the solar systems, the facility will generate enough power to offset nearly 3,645,098 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions into the surroundings, which can be equated to removal of adequate number of cars from running around 2.5 million miles or planting 72,902 new trees.
