Kyocera declared that it has completed the installation of 960 kW of solar modules at the roof of the new AEON Itami-Koya shopping center in Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
The shopping center, which is being operated by AEON Retail, has enough space to accommodate 159 businesses. AEON runs 126 shopping centers all over the country.
The overall solar energy system is 1.16 MW, amongst which 960 kW are Kyocera solar modules. The installation represents one of the largest solar system to be used on a commercial building. The Kyocera modules will generate around 990,000 kWh of clean solar power every year which is adequate to provide power facility to nearly 210 average homes. The power generated from the system will offset nearly 310 tons of carbon emissions every year.
Kyocera has supplied more than 10 MW of solar modules to 126 AEON shopping centers, which use around 80% of solar modules at all its solar-powered centers.
