GT Solar to Supply Polysilicon Production Equipment and Technology to Powertec Energy

GT Solar International, a worldwide supplier of polysilicon manufacturing technology, silicon crystalline and sapphire growth systems and materials for LED, solar and other specific markets, has declared the receipt of a $93.9 million order from Powertec Energy, a polysilicon manufacturing company in Taiwan.

According to the terms of the contract, GT Solar will supply all the manufacturing equipment and know-how related to polysilicon, which includes its patented SDR 400 reactors, and hydrochlorination, filament. The product processing equipment will be erected at the new polysilicon manufacturing facility of Powertec. The new facility is anticipated to commence its manufacturing in 2012.

The SDR 400 CVD reactor is designed to manufacture over 400 metric tons of polysilicon annually and continues to be one among the leading energy efficient reactors available.
