The World congress on renewable energy, which is scheduled to take place in Linköping during May, is expected to witness participation of clean energy professionals from all over the world, UN climate change panel researchers and the crown princess of the country.
The event is scheduled to be held between the 9th and 13th of May. The meet has attracted scientific papers from 650 researchers. The Scientists who have submitted the papers have covered research and development in fields such as solar heating, solar energy, hydro power, wind power, bioenergy, wave power and fuel cells. They also have addressed issues such as providing energy-efficient solutions for industry, construction of buildings, cities and robust transport and various procedural issues and climate change.
According to Professor Bahram Moshfegh, the host of the congresss and Head of the division of Energy Systems, the congress will lay the groundwork for future energy systems. He clarified that the conference will focus on multiple fronts instead of concentrating on a single technology. He explained that solar energy progressed quicker when compared to other renewable energy systems in areas such as policy, demand, supply and commercialization followed by wind energy.
The energy research at LiU presents a holistic view in considering the industries as logical clusters instead of individual constituents. The 15 papers submitted by LiU researchers deals with topics such as forming a low-energy consuming public transport facility and cutting down of greenhouse gas emissions to encourage long-term energy-conserving solutions for business and industry.
The World Renewable Energy Congress 2011 will have 17 keynote speakers. The conference will also host a workshop on European Unions climate policies, which will be led by Anders Wijkmann, anjk honorary doctor at Linköping University.
