California Solar Thermal Installs Solar Water Heating System for Springdale Apartments in Orange County

California Solar Thermal has declared the commissioning of a solar water heating system at the Huntington Beach located Springdale Apartments in April this year. This has become the first system to get erected at an apartment under the California Solar Initiative (CSI) thermal rebate program

The solar hot water system package includes solar thermal collectors manufactured by KIOTO Clear Energy, an auxiliary of GreenOneTec, an Australian-based company and a producer of flat plate solar thermal collectors. The solar water heating system installed at the apartment includes SunReports, a monitoring system that provides real-time data and allows both the installer of the facility and the owner to assess the performance of the systems from remote.

The installed hot water system will serve for a period of over 30 years and will cut down the yearly water heating costs of the apartment by more than 80%. Moreover around 80% of the system installation costs are compensated in the form of subsidies thus cutting down the payback periods and provide lucrative returns on their investment for a number of years.

The solar thermal projects in California are assisted by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), California Solar Initiative (CSI), Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) and other government regulations for energy rebates and loan facilities.
