Tecta Solar Installs Solar System for GlaxoSmithKline

Tecta Solar, a part of Tecta America, declared that it has recently completed a solar PV installation for GlaxoSmithKline. The 406 kW solar system was installed over the rooftop of the Administrative Center of the company located in Upper Providence, PA. GlaxoSmithKline is planning to become carbon neutral in its businesses by the year 2050.

The completed rooftop solar facility incorporates 1,848 solar modules erected utilizing a ballasted roof system and utilizes a Solectria solar inverter to collect solar energy generated by the panels. An incorporated web-based facility displays real-time energy output from the system. The estimated 515 MW of annual power generation from the installation is enough to meet the annual electricity requirements of around 50 houses in Pennsylvania. The clean power generated from the installation can be equated to offsetting nearly 626,753 pounds of carbon dioxide, 4287 pounds of sulfur dioxide and 897 pounds of nitrogen oxide every year.

The solar installation has received a fraction of the entire funding amounting to $500,000 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Commonwealth Financing Authority. Tecta Solar had applied for the funding on behalf of GSK and got it sanctioned through a competitive process.
