Wattner Commissions Rooftop Solar Installation in Germany

Wattner, a Cologne-based group that finances, develops and operates solar power production plants, has announced the commissioning of one of the prominent rooftop solar installation in Ruesselsheim, Germany. The installation was completed over the rooftops of Opel, an auxiliary of General Motors.

Opel has plans to utilize five rooftops of the company for a solar project to achieve a power generating capability of 9.2 MW. The power generated from the rooftop installations will be directly fed into the manufacturing facilities of the company without incurring transit loss. Wattner has utilized the services of EWT SolServ, an associate of Adam Opel, to complete the erection and installation. Around 40,000 solar modules and 500 inverters utilized in the installation will feed the generated clean power into the corporate grid of Opel.

Wattner has plans to invest around 20 million euros for solar projects in Ruesselsheim. The company has contracted to install solar systems at two more solar parks with similar capacity and investment. The 3.15 MW project in Fuerstenwalde near Berlin with an investment of around 6.5 million euros and another project in Harbke, Saxony-Anhalt with a present power generation capability of 4.95 MW needing an investment of 10 million euros.
