eIQ Energy to Provide Parallel Solar Technology to Granite Construction

eIQ Energy, a company that deploys a unique power management technology to provide inexpensive and efficient solar power, has contracted an accord with Granite Construction to supply Parallel Solar technology for its hot mix facility and aggregate located in Coalinga, California.

The new technology enables connecting of solar modules in parallel to considerably reduce the balance-of-system costs and improves the energy harvest of the solar modules than the conventional type of series wiring.

eIQ Energy will be utilizing its vBoost DC-to-DC converter modules along with Solar Frontier supplied CIS thin-film solar modules in the installation to improve the output power of modules to match the capacity of its central inverters. The inverters to be utilized in the installation will be supplied by Siemens to enable cost-effective connectivity of the generated solar power to the grid. The construction of the solar project is anticipated to commence this month and the installation is expected to become fully complete and functional during the latter part of this summer.

According to Oliver Janssen, eIQ Energy’s chief executive officer, the proposed project will establish the cost-effectiveness of parallel solar technology on thin film solar modules in megawatt level installations. He clarified that such installations does away with the use of combiner boxes and complicated wiring and saves on installation and labor costs.
