Michael Powers, Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Co-founder of Stellar Solar has bought a new 2011 Nissan Leaf electric car that is being charged utilizing the power generated by a 3.5 kW solar power system installed at his residence.
Stellar Solar, a known residential and commercial solar installing company in San Diego County, utilizes the car as a standing example to propagate the benefits of solar power. The car features false solar panels and touts a vinyl graphic that claims “Powered by the Sun and Stellar Solar" to draw the attention and earn the response of the viewers.
According to Powers, the electric powered car runs a mile at a cost of 2 cents instead of the 20 cents by a gasoline powered car. He further explained that a number of people who are drawn by the looks and the displayed graphics of the car are now studying the idea of utilizing solar energy to power their cars.
