Invenergy, and its associates develop, own and manage a number of renewable energy power generation installations in Europe and North America.
Recently, the company has entered into an accord with 3Ci, a wind energy developer, to buy Des Moulins wind energy project located in Quebec, Canada.
The Des Moulins wind project placed in the municipalities such as Thetford Mines, St-Jean-de-Brebeuf, and Kinnear’s Mills is designed to generate 156 MW of clean power.
The project when becomes commercially operational in 2013 is anticipated to generate enough electricity to meet the power requirements of over 50,000 homes. Invenergy has already entered into a power supply agreement with Hydro-Quebec to trade the power generated from the installation for a period of 20 years.
ENERCON Canada, a Montreal Canada headquartered company having its production facility in Matane, will supply its ENERCON E-82 2.3 MW wind turbine generators needed for the project. The Des Moulins wind project when completed will be linked to a 230 kV power transmission line owned by the Hydro-Quebec TransEnergie transmission grid through a substation located near the grid.
The current wind energy power generation facility is the third wind project for the company in Quebec. Its 138.6 MW Le Plateau Wind Energy Centre project is anticipated to get completed in 2011 and the Le Plateau 2 Wind Energy Centre, a 23 MW expansion project is expected to be completed in 2013. Both the projects have entered into a power supply accord with Hydro-Quebec for a period of 20 years.
