Magna Closures, an operating unit of Magna International, and Blackstone Solar have announced the electric grid connection of its solar tracking system close to Angus, Ontario. This tracking station is the first one that Magna have constructed.
The project is anticipated to place the Province as the leading producer of consistent solar tracking systems that can endure the tough weather conditions of Canada.
According to Vice President of Magna Closure, John O’Hara, the company has been working in association with Blackstone Solar, a known supplier and installer of ready-to-use solar projects, to manufacture and distribute a 10 kW solar tracker system that is efficient and cost effective. The company utilized its engineering, automotive design capabilities and expertise to produce a solar tracking system that addresses the required standards. The company is planning to broaden its business into the solar industry by supplying reliable solar systems.
Curtis Chandler, Blackstone Solar’s Director, stated that the test system installation will generate more job opportunities in Ontario. He added that the system will be offered to farmers who are opting for a single 10 kW system as well as to those who want to construct major solar farms.
