The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes have declared their support for the construction of the China Mountain Wind Project in the Elko County, Idaho and Twin Falls County in Nevada region.
The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes Business Council has recently inked a resolution in support of the planned wind project.
The project will be located over an area of 30,000 acres owned by private land owners, the Idaho Department of Lands and Bureau of Land Management. The wind farm will have around 200 wind turbines to generate a maximum of 400 MW of power, which is sufficient to supply electricity to over 100,000 homes.
The wind energy project which is being formulated by China Mountain Wind, an ancillary of NV Energy and RES America Developments, is anticipated to bring job opportunities and economic growth in addition to bringing renewable power to the locality.
