Termosolar Alcazar, an equal partnership venture between SolarReserve, a US-based developer of large level solar power projects and Preneal, a renewable energy projects developer from Spain, has declared that the Spain government has granted a tender to the company to construct a 50 MW solar thermal plant in Alcazar de San Juan. The company has won the tender through a competitive bidding process.
The Alcazar de San Juan solar power project will incorporate the molten salt concentrated solar power tower expertise of SolarReserve formulated by Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, an auxiliary of United Technologies. The technology will incorporate an integrated energy storage feature to generate electric power all through the day. The technology, which utilizes a dry cooling process, produces and transfers the electric power with the same functional stability and transferability of a normal power generator.
The clean power generated from the Termosolar Alcazar Power Project is adequate to supply 70,000 houses in the region and will assist Spain to achieve the objectives of EU Climate & Energy to cut down its emission levels. The project will incorporate the equipment and materials manufactured in Spain and the US and will generate around 2,500 jobs in the USA and 4,000 jobs in Spain during the two years of construction period.
