Minnesota PUC Gives Consent for Goodhue Wind Project of Mesa Power

Mesa Power Group declared that Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has given its consent to provide the required site permit and certificate of need for its proposed Goodhue Wind Project in Goodhue County, Minnesota.

The project proposal was pending for want of regulatory examination and hearing on a contested case before an administrative law judge. Now the decision of PUC a result of additional sittings will enable the project to proceed further and begin construction by the year end. The project is planning to commence its commercial operations in 2012.

Mesa Power is planning to install GE wind turbines for this 78 MW wind power generation project. The company has contracted Ryan Companies US and Carstensen Contractors, the Minnesota based companies to provide construction and engineering services needed for the wind turbine installations. National Wind, a Minneapolis-based company will provide the required local development for the project. The project when completed will assist Minnesota in achieving its renewable energy goals without the need of making fresh investments in its transmission infrastructure.

The company being excited about the possibility of renewable power generation is anticipated to continue with its pursuit to develop wind power generation projects all over North America, thus helping to introduce a renewable energy policy that is more dependent on local resources.
