Sekisui Jushi, a Osaka, Japan headquartered company, Kyocera, a Kyoto, Japan headquartered company and Kyocera Solar, an auxiliary of Kyocera have declared the joint development of ‘Eco-Shell,’ a utility solar powered shelter.
The shelter deploys the traditional utility shelter structure of Sekisui Jushi and a Kyocera solar power production facility along with energy conserving LED lights offering eco-friendly sheltering. The solar powered shelters offer perfective substitute to the shelters utilized in public spaces and bus stops.
The bus shelters available exclusively for the Japanese market will assist the country in its energy saving attempts after the recent earth quake and the resultant nuclear disaster. The bus shelter designed to create environmental awareness enables the generated power for other uses such as lighting for ad displays. The excess power generated from the facility can be traded with power utility companies. The low power consuming LED lights that burn in the night assist in bringing down carbon dioxide emissions.
The shelters fitted with independent power positions for charging mobile and other electronic products can be used even as an emergency power supply when needed. The power output of the shelter remains dependent on the availability of solar power.
