United Water and the City of Indianapolis were recently chosen by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) for two Platinum Peak Performance Awards. The awards were presented in recognition of the contribution from the two agencies towards clean water community and ecological protection.
United Water controls and manages two advanced levels of wastewater treatment plants of the city having a total capacity to treat 250 million gal every day. The treatment plants functioned in absolute compliance with the set ecological discharge standards during 2010 to receive the Platinum Awards in the recently held annual conference of NACWA in Chicago, IL.
The award also acknowledged that both the plants continue to have a similar clean track record for a number of years. The Southport Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant has maintained 100% compliance for seven years while the plant at Belmont maintained for 14 years.
United Water has been managing the wastewater facilities of the city from 1994, which currently meets the requirement of 41,000 businesses and 800,000 residents. The company is also engaged in industrial pretreatment monitoring, laboratory services, the Eagle Creek Dam and the total collection system.
