Urban Green Energy (UGE) and GE have declared the availability of the Sanya Skypump, a combination of the Sanya hybrid wind/solar streetlamp facility of UGE and WattStation of GE.
The Skypump, an Electric Vehicle (EV) charge station will enable the vehicles users to have an assured renewable green energy power instead of the unsure grid power.
The main challenge that looms in using electric vehicles in the mainstream is lack of proper power charging facilities. The new Sanya Skypump offers a solution for the problem and it can be installed in the parking lots, along the side of the roads and even those places that are fitted with Sanya street lights. The Skypump facility incorporates a UGE-4k wind turbine in addition to the solar panels to balance the increased requirement of power at a commercial power charging facility.
UGE has unveiled its plans to erect the first units of the Sanya Skypump in countries such as Barcelona, Beijing and New York and has plans to make a global introduction in early part of 2012. The Skypump is made to cater to the needs of commercial users and residential users can install the UGE-4k wind turbine in combination with the wall fixed WattStation of GE to power the electric vehicles.
The GE WattStation™ Electric Vehicle Charging Station designed for the residential users can be retrofitted in the existing homes or used in new constructions. The level 2 type of charger used in the installation offers end-to-end solution to the EV users. The system is designed to charge electric vehicles in just four to eight hours time instead of the normal overnight charging.
