Astroenergy revealed its plans of investing in solar farms in Thailand along with Solar Park. These farms are expected to be complete for commercial operation by December 2011. The PV plants are stationed at Saraburi province that is 100 KM north of Bangkok.
The combined capacity that the farms provide is 5.5 MWp. In all the plants, Astroenergy’s Polycrystalline PV modules (CHSM6610P), BOS Components from other Chint subsidiaries and the inverters from Chint Power System are incorporated. All the materials required by the solar plant are supplied from a single source, which eliminates the hassle of switching from one supplier to another for the clients.
Thailand is most suited for installing solar power plants as it receives a good deal of solar radiation. The solar plants are able to generate electricity to the scale of 8,800,000 kWh every year, which is successful in supplying electricity to over 4000 homes in Thailand. Thailand leads the renewable energy investment scene in South East Asia. The Thailand Government intends to replace its adder policy with the new fit campaign by the end of 2011 in order to intensify the clean energy developmental activities in the region. The fit campaign requires Thailand to work towards energy sustainability to meet the current energy demands and minimise the carbon footprint. The CEO of Astroenergy pointed out that Solar Energy will soon be a prominent energy source in Thailand. He added that with the prices of conventional energy sources rising, PV panels are the most popular solution to meet the rising energy demands. He was appreciative of the efforts taken by the Thai Government towards installing solar energy plants.
