Research and Markets has added a comprehensive analysis report on the biofuel market in Brazil. The report is titled, “Brazilian Bio-fuel Market: An Analysis”.
According to the report, the consumption of ethanol, a key biofuel, in Brazil is growing fast and was 30.5 million in 2010. Ethanol manufacture and consumption in Brazil is expected to reach 40.5 and 30.5 million respectively by the year 2013.
Biodiesel production from renewable materials is also increasing in Brazil, with the introduction of the National Bio-diesel Programme in 2004, which provides tax subsidies and other incentives to endorse vegetable oil production for biodiesel. A strong export market for ethanol also backs up the country’s biofuel sector, along with fuel vehicles and robust government initiatives.
The report predicts the expansion of soya bean processing units, as the capacity for processing soya bean and oil has shot up to reach 176.834 tons per day, a 7% improvement, as a result of substantial growth in the biofuel sector. Flexible fuel cars are becoming more common in Brazil, with 90% of new vehicles using a blend of ethanol as fuel and gas stations offering refills of 80% or even 100% of ethanol. Government initiatives such as the National Ethanol Programme, which offers incentives for ethanol-based vehicles production also promotes the growth of the biofuel sector in Brazil.
Major topics covered in the report include an overview of the country’s biofuel market, major industry trends, challenges faced by the ethanol industry in Brazil, growth prospects for Brazil's ethanol sector, and the prominent companies in the sector, which include Petrobras, Copersucar, Tereos Brazil, and Amyris Brazil.
