The fifth German - Turkish Waste Days symposium being sponsored by the German and Turkish Ministers of Environment will be held at the University of Stuttgart from 27th to 30th September 2011.
The meeting coordinated by the Centre of Environmental Technology – KURS e.V and the Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Waste Management at the University of Stuttgart under the systematic guidance of Prof. Martin Kranert and academic fellows from Turkey is anticipated to have over 100 guests from Turkey.
Turkey has invested around €70 billion and has undertaken significant steps to introduce European directives in their internal ecological polices for preventive as well as for handling environmental security. The country meets stiffer challenges in implementing its ecological commitments. The costs of upgrading its waste management solutions are estimated to be around €10 billion. The country also suffers from the dearth of trained professionals in implementing its advanced waste management methods especially in the communes.
The partakers of the meeting from the communities and cities of both countries, government officials from metropolitan cities and regions, business and associations, scientific establishments, governmental offices and ministries will talk about normal ecological issues and difficulties related to the waste management recycling and the needed moves.
The symposium will also discuss the disposal of hazardous waste, the functioning and reclamation of landfills and funding the waste management activities. The conference will also hold an exhibition participated by Turkish and German companies and an exclusive poster session. After the conclusion of symposium and exhibition a two day field visits to waste treatment facilities is also provided.
