National Solar Power has declared that it will construct one of the biggest solar farms in the Southeast in Gadsden County, Florida, which will yield hundreds of employment opportunities besides bringing in around $1.5 billion in the form of financial ventures into the region.
The location was chosen for the large-sized project for its sunny climate all through the year, availability of regional and community support and the growth potential offered by the region.
National Solar Power has roped in Hensel Phelps Construction, who reconstructed the Pentagon after the 9/11 attacks to design, construct and manage the proposed solar farms. The project currently awaits completion of the local and state level permission processes. On receiving the required permissions for the project, the first phase of the project will commence power generation within a period of six months from the date of breaking the ground. The company has plans to construct a minimum of 20 solar farms over 200-acre sites each with an investment of around $70 million, thus investing millions of dollars in the community development of North Florida. In total, National Solar Power anticipates using around 4,000 acres of property all over the region for the solar power project.
National Solar Power anticipates that the solar installation will produce nearly 400 local jobs during the construction period and 120 permanent job positions afterwards. The 400 MW solar installations when fully completed will generate enough electricity to meet the power requirements of around 32,000 homes.
