SPI Solar, a vertically integrated solar PV developing company, declared that it has been contracted by an auxiliary of KDC Solar to complete the installation of a ground mounted solar installation in Middlesex County, New Jersey, which is designed to generate 6.8 MW power.
The project construction is anticipated to commence by the early part of next year after the completion of the necessary permission formalities and will become fully functional in the third quarter of 2012.
According to the terms of the Preferred Provider Accord reached between SPI and KDC contracted in June 2011, SPI will finance the project and offer construction management services. The proposed solar facility will incorporate around 26,000 solar panels manufactured by LDK Solar and supplied by SPI Solar. The solar project on achieving its completion will produce around 8,450,000 kWh of clean solar power every year to fulfill 100% power requirements of the facilities existing at the site. The completion of the project will signify the third Preferred Provider Agreement between SPI and KDC Solar in recent months. The project is expected to increase the savings of the Middlesex County from the current level of $725,000 to $1.15 million every year during the power purchase agreement period of 15 years.
According to Steve Kircher, SPI Solar’s CEO, the project demonstrates the capabilities of the existing partnership between the company and KDC Solar in delivering solar power generation facilities to institutions, government agencies and businesses to bring down their energy spending.
