SOLON, a turnkey solar power plant provider in the USA, has declared that it will be constructing a 10 MW solar PV plant close to Kingman, Arizona, to supply cost-effective and clean power to UniSource Energy Services (UES) customers.
SOLON has entered into a 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the utility company UES to supply the power generated from the facility. Under the PPA, SOLON will finance for the project, provide design and complete the installation, while UES will pay for the power generated from the facility without making any investment. The contracted 10 MW PPA will compliment a 1.22 MW solar power generation facility to be owned by UES at La Senita Elementary School, near Kingman and developed by SOLON.
The proposed 10 MW solar facility will be located for around 60 A of land owned by UES close to its Black Mountain Generating Station that falls within the Energy Overlay-Solar PV Zone of Mohave County. SOLON has secured all the necessary authority permissions needed for the project within three months time and is currently conducting engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the project. The project will incorporate over 40,000 utility type of solar modules that will be installed over 60 single-axis trackers of SOLON. To improve the performance efficiency of the project, the company will install its own SCADA system to assist remote monitoring and control.
The construction of the project is anticipated to commence this fall and is expected to get commissioned for commercial operations during the first half of 2012.
