T-Solar Invests in Solar Projects in Peru

T-Solar Group has signed three loan agreements worth $145 million for building two photovoltaic power plants. These two plants are capable of generating 44 MW of solar power. These two plants are amongst the first large scale photovoltaic energy projects situated in Latin America.

PV Solar Modules

Around 113,600 thin-film amorphous hydrogenated-silicon modules manufactured by T-Solar will be used for setting up these plants.

These factories are spread over 206 ha in the Arequipa region in southern part of Peru. The parent company of T-Solar, Isolux Corsán has been chosen as the EPC contractor for undertaking the construction work. These two plants together will produce around 80 GWh of solar power, this power will be sufficient for providing electricity to 80,000 people. These plants will connect to the national grid by the second half of 2012. Latin America is an ideal market for the growth of the solar energy market as it has an abundance of solar irradiation. T-Solar builds the PV modules with amorphous hydrogenated silicon thin-film technology. The use of this material reduces the costs and provides high performance. The manufacturing unit of these modules is completely automated and will generate 160 direct jobs for the local people.
