The Ningxia Electric Power Group and Canadian Solar reported the grid-connection and completion of a10 MW ground mounted solar project, which is a portion of a solar plant with 50 MW capacity, in Northwest China in 2011 end.
Tracking system of 2 MW and fixed system of 8 MW are included in this 10 MW solar project. It is anticipated that this solar project will produce around 13,511,167 KWh of power and will decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 18,900 t per year, which is equivalent of conserving standard coal of 5,200 t. This solar project is being funded and built by Ningxia Power Group, together with Gaochuangte New Energy as the contractor for the EPC project.
According to Ningxia Power Group’s Chairman, Mr. Yingkuan Liu, the solar project is the initial phase of strategic partnership between Ningxia Power Group and Canadian Solar. Investment experience and universal technology of Canadian Solar in solar power plant will support in the expansion of solar power plants in China, Liu said.
Canadian Solar’s CEO and Chairman, Dr. Shawn Qu stated that this solar EPC project will provide economic and eco-friendly solar solutions. The company has created a strong profile of EPC project expansion and its implementation in the main universal solar markets. It is working aggressively to leverage this momentum in China and across the globe, including the Canadian Solar’s deal to sell nine solar projects, worth around $470 million, in Canada. The company has intended to play a key role in China’s photovoltaic power market.
