China Guangdong Nuclear Solar Energy Development had recently connected its 18 MW solar power project to the grid. Following this announcement, JinkoSolar, a manufacturer and distributor of vertically integrated solar power products, stated that it had supplied all the required solar modules for the solar project in Dunhuang, Gansu Province.
JinkoSolar had provided 76,000 modules for the solar power plant covering an area of 400,000 m2. The plant is situated in the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company’s solar base.
Dunhuang city is a solar-rich region, which gets 3,362 h of average sunshine time every year. The region has favorable power transmission, which has acted as a guarantee for the quick growth of the solar grid connection systems.
China has a total solar power capacity of 768 MW. In the Gansu Province, completed solar projects and those under construction constitute over 100 MW, which is equivalent to about one-eighth of the country’s total solar power capacity.
JinkoSolar has provided over 15% of the total capacity of the Gansu Province. This has helped the company to establish itself as a significant manufacturer of solar power products. The success of the 18 MW solar project will further induce the development of the solar industry and solar projects in western China.
David Li, the Chairman of JinkoSolar, stated that the photovoltaic industry is receiving good support from investors, developers and the Chinese government.
