Honda has announced the supply of a 2013 Fit EV battery-electric vehicle to Torrance city in the United States. This vehicle delivery is one of the key steps in the electric vehicle demonstration program of Honda.
A ceremony for the delivery of vehicle was conducted at the Torrance City Hall. American Honda’s VP of the Environmental Business Development Office, Steve Center presented a key of the Fit EV to Frank Scotto, Mayor of Torrance.
According to Steve, the company has achieved another significant step in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and has also enhanced its relationship with Torrance. The company will be prepared for more electric vehicle orders from the customers.
Honda has worked with the city of Torrance to collect the views of the residents, regarding the potential sites of recharging station. They jointly took part in many public awareness programs with this Fit EV test vehicle. Honda will offer a plug-in hybrid to the city of Torrance for further testing.
The 2013 Fit EV was introduced at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. Honda has planned to start the leasing of the 123 city-mile per charge battery-electric commuter vehicle to its clients in the United States during the summer of 2012. Since the Fit EV battery is equipped with a 92 kW coaxial electric motor and a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery, it can be completely recharged in 3 h when linked to a 240 V circuit.
