The second Asia-Arab Sustainable Energy Forum (2AASEF), including the fourth International Workshop on the Sahara Solar Breeder (SSB), will be held in Oran, Algeria on May 15 and 16, 2012.
Twenty countries including Japan and Algeria will participate in the forum, which is being conducted by the University of Science and Technology "Boudiaf" Oran (USTO). University of Saida has been selected for conducting the SSB workshop.
SSB is a collaborative project established for developing photovoltaic solar technologies. The project is a solar farm platform with a goal of enabling the flow of photovoltaic energy from south to northern regions of the country in order to provide power for sea water desalination. To achieve this, USTO has established a research center for solar technologies.
The forum invites papers from experts and researchers from Japan and Algeria. The Japanese participation will be represented by experts with specialization in the creation of silicon from sand as well as desalination technologies. The participation of Algeria will be noticeable by the presence of leading solar companies like Sonelgaz and Sonatrach and large organizations, including the Development Unit of Solar Equipment (UDES), Unit Development of solar technologies (UDTS) and the Center for Renewable Energy Development (CDER).
The first Asia-Arab Sustainable Energy Forum was held from August 23 to 25, 2011 in Nagoya, Japan. Ten countries and research groups from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, the University of Tokyo and Chubu University participated in the forum.
