Gehrlicher Solar, a Germany-based company specialized in planning and construction of solar power plants, has entered a joint venture contract with Merk Solar Enerji Çözümleri, an affiliate of Akfel Group, to serve the Turkish photovoltaic markets.
Gehrlicher Merk Solar Enerji will be the name of the new company and it will be based in Istanbul, Turkey. The partnership will combine Merk Solar’s market skills and the local network with the German company’s solar power experience.
The new JV will be involved in several activities, including operation of power plants, EPC services, project development, engineering and financing. In addition, Gehrlicher Merk Solar Enerji will collaborate with system integrators in Eastern, South Eastern and Mediterranean regions of Turkey. The collaboration will help to develop new projects as well to sell Gehrlicher’s GehrTec PV components, PV modules and inverters.
Akfel Group’s CEO, Murad Baltacý stated that the partnership with Merk Solar will help to create a strong footprint in Turkey and its neighbouring countries. Turkey is one of the attractive markets for solar power projects, as it has rapid growth and rising energy demand, says CEO of Gehrlicher Solar, Klaus Gehrlicher. He also added that the Turkish government has created a feed-in tariff that enables attractive investments in sustainable energies.
