Heat is Power Association is a newly re-launched alliance that is focused on expanding the American Waste Heat to Power (WH2P) market. It will act as the primary trade association for WH2P businesses.
The association is dedicated to educate decision makers as well as the public about the advantages of waste heat as America’s economic driver and resource that is capable of producing emission-free electricity.
Waste heat recovery is a method that captures heat produced from industrial applications. Though every waste heat recovery programs offer an opportunity to increase efficiency, WH2P produces completely new emission-free electricity. Executive Director of Heat is Power Association, Kelsey Southerland stated that waste heat is an ideal solution to stop pitting industry against the environment. The not-for-profit association has the ability to strengthen both efforts by generating emission-free electricity.
The capture of waste heat can produce an annual savings of about $3 billion for the American industry. It also creates 160,000 new jobs. Recent studies show that understanding the waste heat’s potential can generate 10 GW of emission-free electricity per year, which is sufficient to power 10 million American residents.
In August 2011, the Heat is Power Act (HR 2812) has been released in the U.S. House of Representatives and will attain equivalent tax parity for waste heat along with other sources that are capable of producing emission-free electricity. The Heat is Power Association highly supports the passage of this economical bill, as it can help to meet the clean energy needs of America by motivating the economy and creating more new jobs. The newly launched association has gained a number of committed members.
