Solar Frontier, a developer and manufacturer of CIS thin-film solar modules for global customers, and NRG Solar, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, have entered into a 13.2 (MW) solar module supply contract.
Based on the contract, Solar Frontier will deliver its CIS thin-film technology to NRG Solar. This is the first contract signed by the two companies and also represents the first purchase of thin film CIS solution for NRG Solar.
NRG Solar owns and controls some of the major solar facilities in the U.S. and currently has over 2,000 MW of solar energy projects under construction in the southwest. The company is a pioneer in the solar equipment implementation across North America and focuses on upcoming technology trends in green energy.
Solar Frontier manufactures the CIS solar modules at its gigawatt-scale production capacity, Kunitomi plant, in Miyazaki, Japan. The plant integrates advanced automation and low-energy, continuous processing of modules. The modules provides high energy conversion efficiency, and total power output (kWh) combine compelling economical and environmental benefits that vary from lower energy needs in production to higher total power output (kWh) under real operating conditions. The light soaking effect of the modules considerably enhances power output and a lower temperature coefficient contributes to higher kWh produced in real conditions.
