Gehrlicher Solar has partnered with Masdar PV to install a 7.7 kWp solar system over the roof-top of an old barn in Belgium. The project includes installation of Masdar PV’s 5.7 m² full-size thin-film solar modules.
This is the second installation of its kind with modules of this capacity. The installation has been carried out for InnoVent, a France-based company.
This is the second joint project of Masdar PV and Gehrlicher Solar followed by the successful completion of the first façade-integrated system project in Munich, Germany. The project has required challenging efforts as the building was too old and had a sloping roof. Hence, a special sub-construction became necessary to install the thin-film solar modules. Gehrlicher experts had the ideal solution to meet the requirements: the GehrTec Intra substructure, which enabled complete integration of solar modules into the roof and created an entirely rain-proof rooftop system.
The CEO of Gehrlicher Solar, Klaus Gehrlicher stated that the combination of Gehrlicher’s substructure with Masdar PV’s a-Si solar modules helps to deliver more economical solutions to investors, as the substructure requires only few components and the modules provide an exceptional cost-benefit ratio.
InnoVent’s achievements include completion of a wind farm construction in France, and it is also establishing wind and solar energy projects in Southern Africa. Currently, the projects are using Masdar PV’s solar modules.
