NorthGrid Solar, a provider of turn-key rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and services, has partnered with The Metropolitan Tea, a global supplier and importer of premium teas and related products, to build a rooftop solar project with an elevated truss system.
The 701 kW project is part of the Feed In Tariff (FIT) Program of the Ontario Power Authority.
NorthGrid Solar has provided a proprietary Elevated Truss System (ETS) for the project. The system delivers continuing roof access and optimized performance as well as provides opportunity for higher revenue to the project owner. The ETS is ideal for rooftops that do not have the capacity to support ballasted systems and also for institutional, commercial and industrial buildings with several rooftop systems. Once the grid construction was completed, the ETS technology and the pre-assembly process have enabled the installation of 701 kW of solar panels in 7 days. Thus, wear and tear over the rooftop has been reduced.
The President and CEO of Metropolitan Tea, Gerry Vandergrift remarked that NorthGrid Solar has been selected to construct one of the largest solar rooftop projects in Ontario, as the company has a proven record of professional and technical services.
Carlo Di Gioacchino, NorthGrid Solar’s President and CEO, noted that Metro Tea is a perfect match to the FIT program as the company has a goal of long term environmental sustainability.
