The Chevrolet Volt, a revolutionary electric vehicle, has been honored with the ‘European Car of the Year 2012’ award. A panel of judges comprising 59 automotive journalists from 23 nations in Europe reviewed several cars and finally selected the Chevrolet Volt.

he Chevrolet Volt includes an 111kW/150 hp electric motor, which is powered by a lithium ion battery with 16 kWh capacity. In the battery-operated mode, the electric vehicle covers a distance ranging from 40 to 80 km depending on the road conditions and driving style without any emissions. When the battery’s charge reaches a minimum level, the extended-range mode gets activated. In this mode, the gasoline engine powers a generator that supports the electric drive system.
Chevrolet showcased new models, concepts and the innovative infotainment system at the International Geneva Motor Show, held on March 8, 2012. Cruze station wagon was one of the new models exhibited at the event. The model includes an enhanced 2.0L diesel engine, a new 1.7L diesel and a 1.4L turbo gasoline engine. Key features of the Cruze wagon include rear view camera, keyless entry and start, start-stop functionality based on engine and trim option and Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system.
At the Geneva Motor Show, Chevrolet has unveiled two new youth concepts: Tru 140S and Code 130R. The Tru 140S is an inexpensive front-wheel-drive four-seat sport car and the Code 130R is a turbocharged, rear-wheel-drive coupe.
Chevrolet MyLink is the new infotainment solution that has been launched by the company. The system integrates drivers’ personal consumer electronic devices like smartphones. It features a high-resolution touch screen, which helps to aggregate data from smartphones through Bluetooth, Aux-in or USB.
