enXco, a company specializing in developing, building, operating and managing renewable energy projects across North America, has entered into a sales agreement with Catch the Wind, a provider of optical control system (OCS) and optical wind sensor.
Under the terms of the agreement, enXco has purchased five additional Vindicator optical control systems to equip the wind turbines installed at multiple farms in North America. The OCS installation is expected to commence in April 2012.
The Vindicator OCS is ideal for utility-scale wind turbine models and will be installed on top of the nacelle. The optical wind turbine control system measures wind direction and speed simultaneously, which will be used to minimize damaging stress loads, enhance energy output and optimize performance of wind turbines.
Jo Major, Catch the Wind’s Interim President and CEO, remarked that they are jointly working with enXco to further assess the OCS performance across additional turbine models and diversified wind facilities. The company can now provide its customers with enhanced annual energy production by utilizing remote optical sensing system for superior turbine control, added Jo Major. The contract enables the company to include additional manufacturers for its wind turbines that are controlled with the OCS. Catch the Wind is happy to advance the next generation optical wind turbine control system with enXco, Major said.
