Southern Energy Management (SEM) announced that it has been certified by the NAHB Research Center as the NAHB Research Center Green Partner of the Year for 2011. The award demonstrates the support provided by the company to its customers in acquiring the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) ICC-700 certification.
Based on the 2011 statistics, SEM is one of the leading home verifier in the US and has verified around 23% of NGBS-certified homes in the country. The company’s NAHB Research Center-accredited staff members have conducted around 300 field verifications last year alone, in which 60% accounted to North Carolina verification.
The residential building performance team of the company is renowned for promoting green building practices, enhancing home performance and conducting energy efficiency programs. Through the help of the team, the customers managed to prevent carbon dioxide emissions of over 16-million pounds last year.
In January 2009, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved NGBS as the residential green building rating system. Since then, the NAHB Research Center has certified about 4,700 apartments comprising more than 150 multifamily buildings, 2,600 single-family houses and 17 residential land developments with almost 1,000 lots.
SEM, a sustainable energy company based in North Carolina, provides green building, turn-key solar and energy efficacy services to companies, military, government, builders and homeowners.
