Suniva, a producer of crystalline silicon solar cells and modules, has declared that its ARTisun Select product line of solar cells have achieved 19% average efficacy at factory level production.
Additionally, the progressing process enhancements were able to meet the strict cosmetic specifications, which include the production of narrow color band for developing an aesthetic, uniform module.
In depth experience and continual research activity of the company helped in creating low cost, efficient solar cells. The company created its Manufacturing Innovation Center last year to focus on process and performance improvements.
According to Bruce McPherson, Vice President, Research and Development, Suniva, the company continues to manufacture solar cells with better performance and efficacy at affordable cost for the current solar cell market. It has overcome the cost and manufacturing challenges through the ARTisun Select cells, since higher production cost is generally involved to produce such efficient cells. In 2012, the company expects to attain production efficacies averaging more than 19.2% for Select cells.
These novel cell efficacies can be availed immediately by solar cell customers. Furthermore, they are integrated into the Optimus modules, developed by the company, which consist over 80% of US content. They are also available as Buy-American Act compliant products.
Suniva is headquartered in metro-Atlanta, GA, and markets its sophisticated PV cells and modules across the globe.
