Gehrlicher Solar AG initiated the construction of the Perleberg Airport solar park, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. The areas, following clean-up including removal of munitions, were ready for construction.
The solar power system, equipped with 35 MW of nominal power, will contribute to 33 M kW-h of green electricity annually. With this high measure, over 9,300 three-person households’ demands will be met.
Two investment funds of KGAL procured the park. Grünwald-based KG generates renewable energies. The western part was sold to InfraClass Energie 6 a closed-end fund, while the European Sustainable Power Fund 2 acquired the eastern part.
The solar park has been raised on an overall 87 ha space that accommodates the former military airport of Perleberg in Brandenburg. The project’s success was thought to be indecisive, initially. This is due to the cut-down plans proposed by the federal government on solar power systems regarding feed in tariffs (FIT). However, the achievement of solar park is now feasible after going through a transition period for carrying out ground-mounted projects on conversion areas. The possibility of this project accomplishment owes to political support from the Federal State of Bavaria and Berlin, and the Perleberg region.
Gehrlicher Solar will raise solar modules, substructures, and inverters on a 62 ha- area, in the upcoming weeks. The other spaces of the area will be used as compensation area for planting and meadows.
This solar park is expected to be commissioned by June 2012. This solar plant will conserve up to 32,000 t of CO2 annually, in contrast to energy produced from fossil fuels.
