A letter of intent (LOI) has been signed by ESA Renewables (ESA), which provides turnkey solar solutions, for the design and building of a 24 MW solar project situated at Paradise Park in Jamaica.
ESA will design, build, commission, operate, monitor and maintain the Jamaican project. The company works with an U.S. Solar Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) provider and Caribbean Energies Group (CEG) to develop the project. Further, ESA will perform analytical studies required for the system and will help to fulfill legal requirements and acquire required permits.
The required place, materials and finance for the solar park will be provided by Caribbean Energies Group. The solar park will be constructed in around 100 ac of land on the island’s West end in Paradise Park. The construction work will start in 2012
ESA is different from other Engineer, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance (O&M) providers. For instance, ESA has executed a new Power Production Guarantee Program, which assures a particular monthly energy generation from solar systems through an ESA O&M contract. The company will include its Monitoring System and pursue a custom-designed O&M plan for the solar farm. If the solar system does not produce the assured monthly energy generation, then ESA will offset the variance between the actual and assured power produced.
ESA is a pioneer in the solar industry. Over 500 solar production units are owned and operated by the company in Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico and US.
