Bella Energy has reported that the company has completed a 1.65 MW solar array on the top of the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center, located in Utah. The rooftop area covers 3.85 ac and this project is the largest solar photovoltaic system installed on the entire electric grid of the Rocky Mountain Power.
The Chief Executive Officer of Bella, Jim Welch stated that it is a wonderful achievement that the project of this scale has been constructed in Utah. The company thanked the persons involved in the project and is expecting to expand its large-scale projects continuously, support organizations and people to save their money in Utah, and all over the globe, Jim stated.
Mayor of Salt Lake County, Mayor Corroon commented that this solar project enhances the clean energy objectives of the county. Solar will become an integral part of a prosperous, bright and resilient energy future, Mayor added.
A calculated amount of 2.3 M kWh of electricity will be generated in the project’s initial year, which covers around 17% of the yearly consumption of electricity by the Salt Palace. The company started the development of the project in 2010 and completed construction by December 2011, taking approximately six months for the project completion. Over 14,000 of man-hours were needed for the solar array. Several parties that include Ballard Spahr, Bella Energy, Chase Bank, CarbonFree Technology, the National Development Council, Rocky Mountain Power, Salt Lake County, Solectria Renewables, Suntech, Unirac and Zions Bank have put their efforts to complete this solar project.
