Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has received two awards at Aquatech China, a trade event conducted for the process, drinking and wastewater technology sectors.
A panel of judges selected solutions with best standards for the nomination process of the Best Wastewater Solution and Best Innovation contests, and this was followed with a voting process to elect innovative solutions that appeared to deserve the award.
During the contest, AnoxKaldnes MBBR biofilm technology won the Best Innovation Contest, while Veolia's Carbon Footprint Reduction Program was declared as first runner-up at the Best Wastewater Solution Contest.
An efficient wastewater treatment technology, the AnoxKaldnes MBBR functions as a fixed-film process and does not require activated sludge. In this technology, a biofilm is used to coat the engineered plastic carriers, which are suspended in a reactor, thus creating a huge surface area to expose the effluent to the biofilm. Different microorganisms to trap sewage are coated on the biofilm. The technology ensures convenient integration with the present facilities without increasing the footprint, making it suitable for organic matter removal as well as for denitrification, nitrification, and phosphorus removal processes.
The Carbon Footprint Reduction Program from Veolia is implemented with systems, procedures, and important performance indicators for providing innovative developments in water treatment solutions that meet the municipal, industrial and environmental standards. This program benefits customers by reducing both the operating costs and the hazards of direct and indirect carbon emissions.
The Vice-President of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, China, Laurent CUNY said that the company is trying to provide the industry with more innovative and eco-friendly water treatment solutions in China with the help of industrial experts and experienced professionals.
