Ygrene Energy Fund, a major developer and manager of energy finance programs across the United States, greets former Costa Rican President, Jose Maria Figueres, who is now the President of the Carbon War Room, a global nonprofit, to participate in the Clean Energy San Diego event at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego.
The Carbon War Room exploits entrepreneurs’ power to provide gigaton-scale, market-driven solutions to address climatic change. Along with local community leaders and businesses, Figueres will discuss key market-driven strategies from across the globe that will invest millions of dollars in local economy and generate thousands of jobs in San Diego.
Ygrene, one of the partners of the Carbon War Room, brings financial institutions, contractors, building owners, and local governments together to help building energy retrofits throughout California and across the nation using a mechanism that was described as one of the quickest, simplest and cheapest ways by President Obama for reducing pollution and saving money. The effects are remarkable. Every $100 million invested in energy improvements in San Diego is expected to generate 1,500 local jobs, drive an economic stimulus of $250 million, and generate local tax revenue of $25 million.
In the event, local leaders, including Cleantech San Diego, the U.S. Green Building Council and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, will describe San Diego's clean energy initiatives. The event is accessible to the public and tickets can be purchased through Clean Energy San Diego at: http://cwrbreakfast2012.eventbrite.com.
