Cardno Announces Acquisition of US Environmental Services and Compliance Management Firm

Cardno, a professional infrastructure and environment services group, has acquired EM-Assist, an environmental services and compliance management firm in California, for $14.25 million.

Through this purchase, Cardno is expected to generate US$15 million in revenues and US$2.8 million in EBITDA in the fiscal year 2013. Moreover, EM-Assist’s 150 employees will become a part of Cardno's business in the Americas. EM-Assist has a strong client base, which includes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force.

The key management of EM-Assist will become Cardno shareholders as part of Cardno's strategy, and EM-Assist will be renamed as Cardno EM-Assist. In a separate announcement, Cardno has reported the acquisition of Marshall Miller and Associates. These latest acquisitions bring Cardno’s staff count to more than 7,000 in over 300 offices operating in 85 nations.

Andrew Buckley, Managing Director at Cardno, stated that the EM-Assist acquisition will reinforce the company’s environmental management expertise in both private and defense sector markets. EM-Assist is a provider of environmental management and compliance services, dealing in environmental restoration, hazardous waste, hazardous materials and air quality.

Moreover, EM-Assist offers a suite of software products that complements its key service offering. EM-Assist’s clients use these products for environmental data management for compliance with local, state, federal environmental regulations, said Buckley.

According to EM-Assist’s President, Lynn Meland, the company’s joining with Cardno will expand its range of integrated solutions and service offering in a more customized way to meet the requirements of clients.
