Quantum Receives $3.8 Million Order for Compressed Natural Gas Storage Tanks

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, a provider of alternative fuel vehicles using hydrogen, hybrid electric and natural gas technologies, as well as fuel storage technologies and advanced vehicle propulsion systems, has reported that it has received a major order for carbon composite compressed natural gas (CNG) storage tanks.

A renowned global developer of natural gas vehicle engine and systems has placed a $3.8 million purchase order for the ultra-lightweight CNG storage tanks. The tanks are to be used for a pickup truck platform designed for high volume and light duty.

The new pickup trucks running on CNG have been designed to meet and also exceed the durability and performance standards specified by original equipment manufacturers. They are to denote a new standard for superiority in operations. Authorized dealers and distributors will market the CNG trucks.

The CEO of Quantum, Brian Olson stated that the company was happy to collaborate with the global natural gas vehicle engine developer for developing the best suitable fuel storage solution for the fleet trucks running on natural gas. Quantum was thrilled about the prospects in the natural gas segment that promises high volume. Utility and corporate fleet managers, who are trying to reduce costs, are choosing natural gas. The CNG refueling infrastructure is expanding and the investment for CNG is paying back quickly.

Schneider Power, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quantum, and Asola Solarpower, an affiliate, supplement the company’s presence in solar and wind farms, and in the production of solar modules.
