America Recycles Day (ARD), the national initiative of a volunteer-based organization, Keep America Beautiful that is celebrated on November 15 every year, focuses on promotion of recycling in the United States.
Online registrations are open for organizing local events that teach people the benefits of recycling and impact on economy and environment. Ever since its initiation in 1997, various communities have come together to advocate the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle every day of the year. The nonprofit program is sponsored by a host of companies in America such as Johnson & Johnson, Owens-Illinois, American Chemistry Council, Glad, Nestle Waters North America, Anheuser-Busch, Waste Management and PespiCo.
Local event organizers can register online to organize events in their community. Under the program, the organizers are offered access to resources necessary to plan and host the events. The support materials range from banners made from recycled plastic bottles to posters made from recycled paper to activity ideas, buttons from recycled steel and pencils from recycled newspapers. Since the materials are provided on a first-come, first served basis, early registrations are recommended. The organizations availing these materials include scouting troops, ecological support groups and local government.
The organizations are expected to conduct their events in the month of November although they are required to be as close as possible to the ARD recognized day of November 15.
